Path to Glory
Mr McCabe had showed us this box containing tubes and wires- what resembled pieces from a model kit. The label was equally deceptive, ‘Acme Productions’. What was revealed later was that these were clues to a ‘game’ that was played earlier this summer around the Bay Area. The Game is played by groups of people who are either in charge, ‘Game Control’ or are seeking to solve the puzzle, with names like ‘Orange Crush’- who leave behind orangre crush canisters whenever they solve a clue. Our clue was quickly solved, we needed to find Game Control.

Enter Jeff, Curtis and Cary, 3 engineers who met us for coffee in downtown Mountain View. Dana Roasting was a great location to tell us about the inspiration behind seeking clues for 3 days straight. The game usually starts on Friday evening and goes until there is a winner, which usually takes 48+ hours of treasure hunting. The main goal is fun, but of course there is a subtle bravado in creating a most esoteric clue. Like, name the wind phenomena that forms in the Western Rockies of Canada? Which would lead you to use your sledgehammer on a sunken block of cement, and once through the debris, your off to the next obstacle… kind of like this film. Maybe we’re onto something.
